The daily whodunit you can solve on a coffee break
Whodunly is a free daily detective puzzle — a whodunit you play right in your browser. One new case a day, four suspects, one accusation. Like Wordle, but for mysteries.
What is Whodunly?
Whodunly is a free daily whodunit — a detective deduction puzzle you play right in the browser, with no app to install and no sign-up to play. Every day there’s one new mystery: a scene, a handful of exhibits, and four suspects. You flip the evidence one clue at a time and name the culprit in as few clues as you dare — solve it early and you score higher.
When you’re done you share a spoiler-free result grid, the way you’d share a Wordle score. It’s a small daily-games ritual for anyone who loves detective stories, logic puzzles, and that satisfying “I should have seen it” moment.
One case a day, in about five minutes
- A fresh case is filed every day — the same mystery for the whole world.
- Flip the exhibits one at a time, in order. Each flip costs a point.
- The fewer clues you spend before accusing, the higher your score.
- You get one accusation. Choose with care — the seal is final.
Why I built it
I grew up on detective stories — the kind where the answer was sitting in plain sight the whole time, and you’d kick yourself for missing it. That quiet little jolt of “of course!” is the feeling I wanted to bottle and hand to someone new every single day.
Most mystery games ask you to click every object in a room. I wanted the opposite: a game that asks you to actually think. No hidden-object hunts, no inventory to rummage, no clock counting down — just the evidence, four suspects, and your own reasoning, the way a good whodunit is supposed to work.
What I loved about Wordle wasn’t the word — it was that the whole world got the same puzzle on the same day. Somewhere out there, someone is arguing with their group chat about the very concierge you just accused. That shared moment is half the fun, so every Whodunly case is the same for everyone, everywhere, until midnight.
And I wanted it to fit in the cracks of a normal day. Five minutes, one case, one accusation — then close the tab and get on with your life. Small on purpose: a daily ritual, not another thing to grind.
